Product Description
Post-1980 woman's huipil measuring 32 inches wide and 28 inches long
This post-1980 special use huipil was hand-woven on a backstrap loom. The foundation fabric is cotton, of solid red color. The colorful designs were added during the weaving process using the technique of supplemental-weft brocading. They were made using mish cotton and polished cotton. They are very finely woven and cover the top half of all three panels. The huipil consists of three panels, seemed with a machine stitch. Two zippers have been added in the seems, on both front and back, for breast feeding. Some of the lower edges are cut and hemmed, and some are selvage finished. The adornment around the head- and arm-holes is retained. The side stitching, which makes the huipil into a finished garment to be used, is still present. This garment remains as it was originally used.
Measurements: 32 inches wide, and 28 inches long, more or less, from shoulder to hem. The huipil is the same design both front and back.
Condition: Excellent, very lightly used, with some light soil possible. This is a really beautiful garment.
