- Solola -- Old Tzute with warp ikat
Product Description
Older Solola tzute measuring 35 x 42 inches
This is a traditional panuelo tzute from Solola. It probably dates from the 1990s. It was handwoven on a backstrap loom in two panels, then joined with a simple randa down the center. Two edges are selvage-finished, two edges are hemmed. Dimensions are 35 inches wide and about 42 inches long. Background fabric is red cotton with thin stripes, some of which are warp-ikat. Condition is Good, with some light soil and overall wear, since this is a used tzute. This is a really nice older example. Note that there is some separation of the threads in the lower left corner from where the weaving was terminated. This looseness is typical of much backstrap weaving. The final photo provides a close-up.
