Product Description
Traditional carrying cloth measuring 34 x 26 inches
Maya tzutes are incidental cloths used for a multitude of purposes, often as cargadores or carrying cloths. This particular cloth is from the village of Santiago Sacatepequez. It is very finely woven in 2 panels, joined by a fine randa stitch as seen in the second photo. All edges are beautifully selvage-finished. The weaving technique is warp-faced plain weave. Overall dimensions are approximately 34 inches wide and 26 inches long. This material appears to be 100% cotton. In the photos below, the second is a closeup of the first.
Condition: Very Good, lightly used, some light soil and a few pulled threads possible. These traditional tzutes from this village are becoming increasingly hard to find
