Product Description
Post-1980 2-panel huipil measuring 30 inches wide and 26 inches long
This post-1980 daily use huipil was hand-woven on a backstrap loom. The foundation fabric is cotton, of multi-colored stripes. The colorful designs were added during the weaving process using the technique of supplemental-weft brocading. They were made using mish cotton and polished cotton. The huipil consists of two panels, seemed down the center. Two lower edges are cut and hemmed, two are selvage finished. The adornment around the head- and arm-holes was applied using machine embroidery, and is retained. The side stitching, which makes the huipil into a finished garment to be used, has been removed.
Measurements: 30 inches wide, and 26 inches long, more or less, from shoulder to hem. The huipil is the same design both front and back.
Condition: Very Good, used, with some loose threads and light soil possible.
