- San Pedro Sacatepequez Cofradia cloth #1
Product Description
This cofradia small tzute from San Pedro Sacatepequez dates from post 2000; various cofradia are still active in San Pedro, and this cloth was purchased in 2019. It was woven in a single panel on a backstrap loom. The decoration was added using supplemental weft brocading. All four edges are nicely selvage-finished. These small utility cloths were used for a variety of functions: as head coverings, as servilletas, to wrap around and hold candles in the procession, etc.
Dimensions: about 10-11 inches wide and 17.5 inches long; as can be seen in the photos, the panel is slightly curved and of somewhat variable width.
Condition: lightly used, some small loose threads and color running is possible. This was a cloth used in a cofradia ceremony
