Oil painting on canvas, measuring 9 x 11 inches, stretched. Signed lower left "Salva. Q. T." for Salvador Quejul Tiney, a Maya artist who lives in one of the villages on the south shore of Lake Atitlan. Tiney sells his works in the art galleries in Santiago Atitlan. He is a new artist whom I discovered on our trip to Guatemala in 2006. His paintings are characterized by very detailed treatment of clothing and other details in his paintings. This painting is of a traditional market scene in San Pedro la Laguna, and was painted recently.
