Product Description
Oil painting measuring 16 x 20 inches, traditional Maya bone doctor
Pascual pur Gonzalez is a contemporary Maya painter who lives in Santiago Atitlan. Curanderos or doctors are a respected segment of traditional Mayan culture. They have traditionally performed their services using a mixture of religion, witchcraft, herbal medicines and common sense. Recently, a number of American and Canadian doctors have visited the Lake Atitlan region of southern Guatemala as volunteers, providing free or very low cost medical aid to the peoples. These surgeons can perform more complicated bone repair procedures than the local doctor.
