- Oscar Peren -- Farm Life in Comalapa
Product Description
Oil painting on stretched canvas measuring 32 x 24 inches, with simple frame
Oscar Peren lives and works in the Kakchiquel Maya town of San Juan Comalapa, which has a 60+ year history of painters in the naif style. He was born in 1950, and currently lives and works with his family in his Gallery in Comalapa. He has exhibited widely in his home country, and a number of his paintings are represented in the book Arte Naif Guatemala published by UNESCO in 1998.
Oscar paints today in two distinctly different styles. He still paints his unique scenes of Guatemalan village life, especially in his native town of San Juan Comalapa, in his unique naif style. He also paints in a more contemporary "Western" style depicting landscapes in southern Guatemala. This very detailed and large painting exemplifies his proficiency in the former style.
Large painting on canvas measuring 32 x 24 inches. It was purchased in 2006 from Peren's gallery in Comalapa, and bears the original wood frame as displayed in the gallery. Overall dimensions are 33 x 25 inches. It is signed in the lower left corner "Comalapa, Oscar Peren". Oscar told me it is a stylized view of the daily life on every small farmstead in the Comalapa region.
The price includes a $50. "oversize" FedEx shipping surcharge for large packages. This painting can be shipped only by FedEx.
