Orlando Peren -- San Andres Xecul

Orlando Peren lives and works in the Kakchiquel Maya town of San Juan Comalapa, which has a 60+ year history of painters in the naif style. He is the son of Oscar Peren, and currently lives and works with his family in their Gallery in Comalapa. He has exhibited widely in his home country, and has become an important and talented painter in his own right.

This is an oil painting on canvas measuring 12 x 16 inches. It was purchased in 2012 from Peren's gallery in Comalapa. It is signed in the lower right corner "Orlando P." and titled "San Andres Xecul". It depicts the famous yellow church in that Maya village.
