Omar Bal -- El Quema del Torrito

Omar Bal lives in the town of Comalapa, which has a 60+ year history of painting in the naif style. He is the son of the well-known Comalapa painter Feliciano Bal, and exhibits in his family's gallery in Comalapa.

This painting is from ca. 2009, and was purchased directly from the artist in 2010. It depicts "The burning of the little bull", a dance performed at festivals in many Maya villages in southern Guatemala. The painting measures 7 x 5 inches and is stretched and framed. The overall size is 11 x 9 inches.
