- Nebaj Tzute or Shawl #4
Product Description
Post 1990 weaving measuring 17.5 inches wide and 43 inches long
This traditional shawl or tzute was made in the Ixil Maya town of Santa Maria Nebaj. It was woven in one wide panel on a backstrap loom, using warp-faced plain weave. The decoration was added using supplemental weft brocading. This shawl probably dates from post 1990, and the condition is excellent, with possibly some light soil.
Dimensions: approximately 17.5 inches wide and 43 inches long, not including the long warp fringe.
