- Nebaj Tzute or Shawl #3
Product Description
Post 1990 weaving measuring 23-26 inches wide and 52 inches long
This traditional shawl or tzute was made in the Ixil Maya town of Santa Maria Nebaj. It was woven in one wide panel on a backstrap loom, using warp-faced plain weave. The decoration was added using supplemental weft brocading. This shawl probably dates from post 1990, and the condition is excellent, with possibly some light soil. The photo below shows the design on one end, which is the same as the other end.
