Julian Coche Mendoza is the younger brother of Antonio Coche, the first painter from San Juan la Laguna. He initially painted in the naive style popular around Lake Atitlan; but after spending a few years in art school in Guatemala City, he now paints in a modern cubist style. His work is quite dynamic and colorful, and depict daily scenes common in his village.

Oil painting on canvas measuring 13.2 x 16 inches, unstretched. The painting will be mailed rolled in a hard tube. Signed "Julian Coche M." in the lower right corner. The painting depicts the Baile de los Venados or Dance of the Deer. It was painted ca. 2006, and was purchased in January 2008 in the Mendoza family gallery in San Juan.
