Product Description
Very finely woven Woman's huipil with lines of very small bird designs
This post-1980 daily use huipil was hand-woven on a backstrap loom. The foundation fabric appears to be cotton, though there may be some synthetic threads. The small naturalistic bird designs were added after the weaving was finished, using hand-embroidery. This embroidery is mixed cotton and synthetic yarns. The huipil consists of two panels, seemed down the center with a simple hand-stitch. All four of the lower edges are cut but not hemmed. The adornment around the head-hole is retained. The side stitching (which made the huipil into a finished garment to be used) has been removed.
Measurements: width tapers from 31.5 to 33.5 inches wide and is 31 inches long.
Condition: Very Good, lightly used, light soil possible. There are a couple very faint spots on the light blue lower background.
