Product Description
Woman's huipil measuring approximately 35 inches wide, 28 inches long
This post-2000 daily use huipil was hand-woven on a backstrap loom. The foundation fabric is black cotton. The small geometric designs were added during the weaving process using the technique of supplemental-weft brocading. They were made using a mixture of mostly cotton threads. It consists of three panels, seemed using a simple stitch. All of the lower edges are selvage-finished, though some are somewhat loose from the manner in which they were removed from the loom. The adornment around the head-hole the traditional Chichicastenango sun design. The side stitching (which made the huipil into a finished garment to be used) is still present.
Measurements: approximately 35 inches wide and 28 inches shoulder to hem, somewhat uneven
Condition: Very Good, lightly used, some very light soil and loose threads possible. This is a very nice and finely woven garment.
