- Francisco Sajvin -- Washing Clothes in Santiago Atitlan
Product Description
Oil painting on stretched canvas measuring approx. 16 x 18 inches
Francisco Sajvin is a young artist who lives in the village of Santa Catarina Palopo, on Lake Atitlan. I purchased this painting in 2008 from his mother, who sells textiles in Panajachel. Francisco is self-taught, and paints in his own unique style. His color palette is less vibrant than many of the other painters of the region. This painting depicts 4 women from Santiago Atitlan, washing clothes in the lake. They are all dressed in traditional traje.
Oil painting on stretched canvas measures 16.3 x 18.2 inches. Signed lower right "Francisco Sajvin" and not titled.
Francisco's paintings are thinly painted, and this painting shows some light abrasion along both the right and the left sides of the canvas. This wear is slight and barely noticeable.
