Felipe Ujpan Mendoza lives in the Tzutujil Maya village of San Juan la Laguna on Lake Atitlan. He has exhibited widely in Guatemala, and is represented in the UNESCO book titled Arte Naif -- Guatemala, published in 1998. Two different paintings by Felipe Ujpan are pictured in that book.
Oil painting on canvas measuring 28 x 37 inches, stretched and framed in a simple black wood frame. Signed "Felipe Ujpan M." in the lower left corner, titled "Musica Indigena" 04 (Indigenous music, 2004) in the lower left corner. The painting depicts 3 men in traje of San Pedro la Laguna, playing the chirimilla (an indigenous Mayan flute), the marimbas, and a flauta. It was painted in 2004. The images below are of the entire painting, followed by close-up photos of different parts. This is a large painting and will be fairly expensive to ship. Some of this extra postage is included in the purchase price.
