- Feliciano Bal -- On Lake Atitlan
Product Description
Feliciano Bal lives in the town of Comalapa, which has a 60+ year history of painting in the naif style. Born in 1943, Bal started painting at an early age. He was exhibiting in the collective exposition in Comalapa by 1968, and has made his living by painting. Bal has exhibited nationally in Guatemala, and has had international expositions in both Germany and the United States. I bought this painting from the artist in his gallery in Comalapa in 2006.
This painting shows a typical scene on Lake Atitlan. Two men and a woman are standing on a pier, next to a typical Atitlan lancha or "water taxi", with the volcanoes in the background. Oil on canvas measuring 20 x 16 inches, not stretched. Signed lower right "Feliciano Bal, San Juan Comalapa 2004". This painting is not stretched and will be mailed rolled in a tube
