Coban Huipil #3

Coban gauze huipil.

This contemporary huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three white gauze cotton panels. These panels are decorated with horizontal bands depicting butterflies, women dancers and small ducks in white supplementary brocade.  The garment is new and unfinished, since the hole in the center for the head has not been cut.  This textiles was purchased in 2019 from a vendor in Antigua.

Meassurements:  the total panel when opened is 36 inches square, so the finished garment would be 36 inches wide and 18 inches shoulder to hem.

Condition: Excellent condition, perhaps a few loose threads. This is a very attractive example of very traditional Coban gauze weaving
