Product Description
Though at first glance this appears to be a child's gorra, I was told by the textile vendor in Antigua in 2019 that this was a head tzute, used in a cofradia ceremony.
This tzute was woven in a single panel on a backstrap loom. The person from whom I bought it told me it was from Chuarrancho, located in the department of Sacatepequez, near the ancient colonial capital of Antigua in southern Guatemala. It measures 11.5 inches wide and 18.5 inches long. Both ends are selvage-finished. Condition is Very Good, with some light soil and a few pulled threads. This textile was purchased in 2019.
