Huipil San Juan Sacatepequez #6

Huipil San Juan Sacatepequez #6

Manufacturer: N/A
SKU: G-T-H-SJS-6
Price: $130.00
This item is in stock
Quantity:
This post 1980 woman's huipil was hand-woven on a backstrap loom. The foundation fabric is cotton in vertical stripes of multiple colors. The large animal designs were added during the weaving process using the technique of supplemental-weft brocading. They were made using mostly cotton threads. It consists of two panels, which have been joined in the center of the areas of the brocading. All of the lower edges are selvage-finished, and there is some slight looseness in the threads in the lower areas from the manner in which they were removed from the loom. The adornment around the head-hole consists of an applied embroidered collar. The side stitching (which makes the huipil into a finished garment to be used) has been removed.

Measurements: 47 inches wide and 24 inches shoulder to hem, more or less.

Condition: Very Good condition, with perhaps some light soil and a few loose threads.
