Huipil Patzun #7

Huipil Patzun #7

Manufacturer: N/A
SKU: G-T-H-Pat-7
Price: $46.00
This item is in stock
Quantity:
This post-1980 daily use huipil was hand-woven on a backstrap loom. The foundation material is a very soft and supple cotton thread, but not the more usual polished cotton aleman. The designs were all added using needle embroidery after the basic garment was completed. The embroidery is in a beautiful but simple floral design. It is beautifully embroidered of fine embroidery floss, mostly cotton but some synthetic artificial silk (rayon or orlon). It consists of two panels, seemed down the center. In this case the randa a simple zig-zag stitch. All four lower edges are beautifully selvage-finished. Original adornment around the head-hole is retained. The stitching under the arm-holes has been removed, so that the garment can be laid flat or worn like a poncho.

Measurements: 29 inches wide and approximately 24 inches long, though one side is slightly longer than the other.

Condition: Very Good, lightly used, some very slight soil is possible, a few loose or pulled threads. There is very little of the looseness in the lower part of the foundation fabric on one side, where the weaving battens were removed. This flaw is locally called golpeado.
