Magical realism is a school of Ecuadorean painting whose founder and major proponent was the painter Gonzalo Endara Crow (1936-1996). Frederico Fuentes was a student and is a follower of Endara Crow. He currently paints and sells his paintings in Quito. He paints in the style of Endara Crow, and many of his paintings reflect themes taken from Endara Crow's paintings. This painting reflects the theme of an untitled mural painted for the Junta del Acuerdo de Cartagena, painted in 1988.

This painting was purchased directly from the artist. It is painted with acrylic on canvas, and is not stretched. Size is 23.3 x 31.3 inches. It is signed lower right "F Fuentes 06", and was painted early in 2006. It will be shipped in a roll inside a hard tube.
