Quantity:
Paintings dating from the 1950s and 1960s signed S. Endara are usually attributed to an artist named Segundo Endara. No further information has been provided about this artist. Because of their similarity in subject matter and painting style to the works of the Moncayo families of Ecuadorean painters (especially Hector Moncayo), some have suggested that these are early or commercial works of one or more of the Moncayo artists. I can add no particular information to clarify this uncertainty, but it is certainly obvious that "S. Endara" was closely familiar with the work of the Moncayos.

Oil painted on canvas, which has been mounted on hardboard; framed in a possibly period carved gold gilt wood frame. Size of painting is 25 x 16 inches without the frame, 29.5 x 20.5 inches including the frame. The painting is slightly soiled, and some slight flaking can be seen in the sky. Otherwise, the painting is in very nice condition. Signed lower right "S. Endara R".

The first photo below shows the entire painting with frame. The second photo is a close-up of the central area. The third photo shows an area of the sky with the soil and slight flaking obvious.
