I purchased this stone carving in the ruins of Monte Alban, near Oaxaca, Mexico, in the erly 1990s. It was purchased from the carver and is a replica of an ancient stone carving. The stone is a medium hard material that can be made to simulate jade. Size is about 4.5 inches wide and 5 inches top-to-bottom. A quarter is included in the photo for size comparison. The second photo is of the back of the mask.
