This style of painting has become popular in Guatemala in the past 10 years. Painted in oil on hardboard, the painting is then incised with a sharp razor knife to simulate texture. These paintings have broad aesthetic appeal for their modern and colorful character.

This is an oil painting on hardboard, and measures about 12 x 18 inches. It is signed in the lower left corner "Felipe Chavez" and titled "Comalapa Guatemala". This painting was recently purchased in Panajachel, and is in Very Good condition.
