Patzicia Huipil #4

Patzicia Huipil #4

Manufacturer: N/A
SKU: G-T-H-Ptz-4
Price: $36.00
This item is out of stock
Quantity:
This post-1980 daily use huipil was hand-woven on a backstrap loom. Like the huipiles from its neighboring town Patzun, the foundation material for this Patzicia huipil is a very soft and supple polished cotton thread called locally aleman, possibly because many years ago the thread was imported from Germany. The designs were all added during the weaving process using supplemental weft brocading. It consists of two panels, seemed down the center. In this case the randa is comprised of a simple figure-8 stitch. All four lower edges are beautifully selvage-finished. An extra piece of commercial cloth about 7 inches wide has been added at the bottom to give extra length for tucking inside the skirt. Original adornment around the head-hole is retained. The stitching under the arm-holes is also present, and this completes the wearable garment.

Measurements: 32 inches wide, 25 inches shoulder to hem, more or less.

Condition: Very Good, very lightly used, some very slight soil is possible.
