Juan Manuel Sisay -- Portrait of his Grandfather (#2)

Manufacturer: N/A
SKU: G-P-JMS-6
Price: $550.00
This item is in stock
Quantity:
Juan Sisay was Santiago Atitlan's first and most famous painter. He had three sons, all of whom painted, as well as a number of grandsons and nephews, all of whom use some variation of "Juan Sisay" in their names. This painting is by Juan's son Juan Manuel Sisay, and is dated 2003. I purchased it from a gallery in Santiago Atitlan in 2008, from Juan Sisay's grandson Juan Diego. Diego told me that the portrait was of Juan Sisay's father. Juan Manuel Sisay is one of Guatemala's most accomplished contemporary painters. He has exhibited both nationally and internationally, winning wide critical acclaim.

Oil painting on canvas measures 32.5 x 23 inches, and is unstretched. It will be shipped rolled in a hard tube. Signed lower left "Juan Manuel Sisay '05".
