These panels are made in the Tzutujil Maya Village of Santiago Atitlan, located on Lake Atitlan in Guatemala's southern highlands. They are all embroidered by hand on a cloth panel that was woven on a backstrap loom. Each is unique. This embroidery is particularly fine and of unusual subject. It was made by Petronilla Crista Chiquival, and I purchased it directly from her in January 2008.

This particular panel depicts the town of Santiago Atitlan, with its churcha nd a woman weaver, and measures approximately 18 inches tall and 19 inches wide, but is somewhat irregular in shape. It is new and in very good and clean condition.
