- Tactic Huipil #5
Product Description
Older huipil from Tactic, in the Alta Verapaz
This post-1980 huipil was hand-woven on a backstrap loom. The foundation fabric is plain white cotton in the 4 panels. The designs were added during the weaving process using the technique of supplemental-weft brocading, and they are of mixed synthetic and cotton threads. The huipil consists of four panels, seemed together at the joints. An extra piece of white commercial cotton cloth has been added along the bottom edge to lengthen the garment where it goes inside the skirt. The side stitching, which makes the weaving into a finished garment to be worn, is still present.
Measurements: 28 inches wide and 24 inches long
Condition: Excellent, lightly used, a very few loose threads. This garment was purchased in 2014.
