- Tactic Huipil #4
Product Description
Older huipil from Tactic, in the Alta Verapaz, "estilo de venado" style of the deer
This post-1980 huipil was hand-woven on a backstrap loom. The foundation fabric is plain blue cotton in the 3 panels. The designs were added during the weaving process using the technique of supplemental-weft brocading, and they are of entirely cotton threads. The huipil consists of three panels, seemed together at the joints. Often an extra piece of commercial cotton cloth is added along the bottom edge to lengthen the garment where it goes inside the skirt. This additional piece of fabric has been removed. The side stitching, which makes the weaving into a finished garment to be worn, has also been removed.
Measurements: 33 inches wide and 17 inches long
Condition: Excellent, lightly used, a few loose threads.
