Bolivia Man's Poncho #4A

Bolivia Man's Poncho #4A

Manufacturer: N/A
SKU: B-T-MP-4A
Price: $220.00
This item is out of stock
Quantity:
This is an all wool poncho, handspun wool, tightly hand-woven on an Andean loom. The two equal-sized panels are sewn together with a fancy stitch, and 10-inch slit left for the head hole. The edges are finished with an applied matching wool fringe. The dyes appear to be mostly natural, with some chemical dyes possible. I would guess the date to be pre-1960. The feel of the cloth is quite supple, and the weaving is tight and fine. I was told that this poncho is from the Bolivian region of Potosi.

Condition is Good, as found condition. There is some slight abrasion due to wear, but no holes. There is also some light soil, as no attempt has been made to wash the garment. The fringe shows light wear, and some of the fringes are worn and somewhat ragged, though the loss is minor and from authentic use.
