This is an all wool woman's manta. It is made from handspun wool, hand-woven on an Andean loom. The two panels were joined with a simple zig-zag stitch, which is barely visible to one side of the center stripe with the condor figures. This manta is from Potolo, and textiles from the region of Bolivia are difficult to find. The dyes appear to be almost all vegetal. The foundation fabric is all natural dark brown/black sheep's wool. I would guess the date to be before 1970. The textile is very nicely and finely woven. There is a quite fine tubular edging, which runs around the total border of the piece. The two panels are not identical, with the central condor stripe being part of one of the pieces.
Condition is Very Good, light wear to edges, slight stretching along some edges giving an irregular shape, light soil possible. The corners curl significantly. There are are number of small areas similar to that shown in the last photo, all less than one inch in diameter, that show pulled threads and/or small repairs.
