Nigerian strip-woven cloth is hand-woven in narrow strips approximately 3-4 inches wide. The strips are then sewn together to create the cloth of desired width, and the ends of the strips are usually hemmed. A wide variety of colors and design elements are incorporated, and recently plastic and/or metal threads may be used to give the cloth an overall "glimmery" effect. Sometimes commercially-available threads are used, and occasionally hand-spun threads of local brown cotton are incorporated. A peculiar technique of weaving can give an open "eyelet" effect.

This particular cloth measures 58 inches wide and 72 inches long. Fifteen (15) individually-woven strips of cloth have been used. All pieces are of fairly recent manufacture, and show only minimal signs of wear. A close-up picture of the cloth follows.
