Quantity:
This ca. 2000 daily use huipil was hand-woven on a backstrap loom. The foundation fabric is a black cotton. The large geometric designs were added during the weaving process using the technique of supplemental-weft brocading. They were made using mostly cotton threads, and feature large and small versions of the Mayan double-headed eagle. It consists of three panels, which have been joined in the areas of the brocading. All of the lower edges are selvage-finished, though there is some slight looseness in the threads in the lower areas from the manner in which they were removed from the loom. The lengths are also somewhat uneven. The adornment around the head-hole the traditional Chichicastenango sun design. The side stitching (which makes the huipil into a finished garment to be used) has been removed.

Measurements: 32 inches wide and 28 inches shoulder to hem, more or less.

Condition: Very Good condition, with some light soil and loose threads possible. Generally in very nice lightly used condition.
