This traditional shawl or tzute was made in the Ixil Maya town of San Gaspar Chajul. It was woven in one wide panel on a backstrap loom, using warp-faced plain weave. The decoration was added using supplemental weft brocading. This shawl probably dates from post 1990, and the condition is excellent, with possibly some light soil.

Dimensions: tapers from 22 to 27 inches wide and 48 inches long, including the long warp fringe.
