This child's gorra was woven in a single panel on a backstrap loom. It is from the Maya town of Santa Maria Cauque, located in the department of Sacatepequez, near the ancient colonial capital of Antigua in southern Guatemala. It measures 7.5 inches wide and 19 inches long. Both ends are selvage-finished. Condition is Very Good, with some light soil and a few pulled threads. Age is approximately 5-10 years.
