This child's gorra was woven in a single panel on a backstrap loom. It is from the Maya town of San Antonio Aguas Calientes, located near the ancient colonial capital of Antigua in southern Guatemala. It is still sewed together as used. It measures 7.8 inches wide and approx. 6 inches in diameter. One end is selvage-finished, the other is hemmed. The entire brocaded design is two-sided, being the same on both sides of the panel. Condition is Very Good, perhaps with some slight soil. Age is approximately 5-10 years. The pictures below are of the two sides.
