This old morral from Joyabaj (Department of Quiche) measures 12 x 13 inches. The bag was hand-crocheted of all cotton. The strap was hand-woven on a narrow belt loom, and is also cotton. The birds in the center are the Guatemalan national bird, the quetzal. The lettering appears in two rows continuously around the bag. Both sides are pictured. As best as I can discern, the text reads as follows (if this has any meaning, it is beyond me):
Line 1: IATEO 5 8 * RSAIMOS 884
Line 2: HEBREOEAE * EOEREBHEOS
Condition: Very Good, lightly used but presenting no significant flaws. This bag has been used and shows some wear and soil, but there is no significant damage and no holes.
