This is an early art pottery mug made by the Ashrama Pottery Co., Sri Ram Ashrama, Benson, Arizona, according to the tag label. It is not exactly American Indian, but comes from the same part of the country and has the "southwest" feel, and I did not know what other section to place it. I bought it from a collector of Native American pottery, and she bought it in Arizona in the early 1960s.
Height of the mug is 4.7 inches, diameter of the top is 3.3 inches, diameter of the base is 4 inches. The inside is glazed cream color with allover black splotches. Condition is Mint, no cracks or ships. The label shows light wear, as can be seen in the photos below. The rubbing on the bottom is over the stipple marks from the kiln, and must have been done after the firing in order to even off the bottom. The second photo is of the back of the mug.
