African stools and headrests are functional household furniture, made locally for use by local people. They are invariably carved by hand from a single piece of wood, and have artistic as well as functional appeal. They are traditional and genuine tribal African art.
This headrest is carved from one piece of wood. The foot measures 3 by 3 inches, across the top 3.2 x 9.3 inches, and 6 inches tall. The carrying handle is a leather thong wrapped with metal wire. The wood shows a lot of natural grain and burl figure, and was oiled by a previous owner.
