Nahuala Huipil #12C

Nahuala Huipil #12C

Manufacturer: N/A
SKU: G-T-H-Na-12C
Price: $68.00
This item is in stock
Quantity:
This post-1980 daily use huipil was hand-woven on a backstrap loom. The foundation fabric is cotton, the blue threads dyed with indigo. The small ganso or goose designs were added during the weaving process using the technique of supplemental-weft brocading. They were made using artificial silk (rayon or orlon embroidery floss) and polished cotton. There are three rows of 8 figures on both the front and the back, which are the same. The huipil consists of two panels, seemed down the center. All lower edges are selvage-finished, though those on one side are somewhat loose from the removal of the batten when the weaving was terminated. The adornment around the head- and arm-holes is retained. The side stitching, which makes the huipil into a finished garment to be used, has been removed.

Measurements: 30 inches wide and about 28 inches long from shoulder to hem. The huipil is the same design both front and back.

Condition: Very Good, used, with some loose threads, light soil and slight fading possible. This is a very attractive and authentic garment.
