This child's gorra was woven in a single panel on a backstrap loom. It is from the Maya town of San Antonio Aguas Calientes, located near the ancient colonial capital of Antigua in southern Guatemala. It measures 8.5 inches wide and 18.5 inches long. One end is selvage-finished, the other is hemmed. The entire embroidery is two-sided, being the same on both sides of the panel. Condition is Very Good, with some color run especially in the yellow color. Age is approximately 5-10 years.
