Blue corn is the working name for the potter Crucita Gonzales Calabaza. She was born about 1923 in the New Mexico pueblo of San Ildefonso.
This pair of small pottery candle holders was purchased in New Mexico ca. 1960. They are highly polished redware with no decoration. Measurements are 1.6 inches diameter at the top, base diameter 1.2 inches, and height 2.1 inches. There is an incised script signature on the bottom which reads "Blue Corn / San Ildefonso / Pueblo" which is barely discernible in the bottom photo.
Condition: Very Good, no cracks or chips, and very little abrasion to the glaze.
