Oil painted on canvas, which was then mounted on cardboard. The painting was then matted and framed in a very simple manner, and can be easily taken apart. Image size is 19.7 x 13.7 inches. A very beautiful Andean landscape including the volcano in the background. A native with four sheep can be seen in the center. There is some very slight surface dirt, but cleaning is not necessary. Signed lower right "G. Moncayo" and titled lower left "El Carihuayrazo, Ecuador". These are shown in the two photos below. From the appearance of the paintings and the framing, I would guess the date for this painting to be about 1960-1970. But that is just a guess, and there is no date on the image or on the reverse side.
Hector Gustavo Moncayo signs his work "G. Moncayo", so as not to be confused with his father Hector, also a painter. Gustavo was born in 1943, in Quito. Living in a family of painters, he began painting at an early age. He has made his living painting, and is still working.
