This is an all wool poncho, handspun wool, hand-woven on an Andean loom. The two panels are sewn together with a 12-inch slit left for the head hole. The handwoven edging with fringe was added afterwards. The dyes appear to be largely synthetic, and the foundation is a mixture of natural gray wools. I would guess the date to be post-1980. I have been told that this poncho is from the Oruro region of Bolivia.
Condition is Very Good, no obvious holes or stains, light soil possible. All the applied fringe is present. The top picture shows only 2/3 of the garment.
