A traditional man's kilt or apron, called ponchito or rodillera in Spanish, is still worn by some men, mostly in rural areas, around Lake Atitlan and in Solola, Nahuala and other rural areas of Guatemala. It is a stiff woolen woven fabric, either natural black or brown with white checks. Both sides are the same design. Maya people will tell you which village a particular ponchito is from, but the fine distinctions elude me. I am thus placing all such items in one category, with descriptions and dimensions.

This particular textile is 20 inches wide and 42.5-44 inches long. Condition is Very Good, lightly used, with some slight soil possible. I was told by the woman from whom I purchased this item that it was from Santiago Sacatepequez. The following image is a closeup of one end.
