Morrales are utility bags used by Maya men. They are usually also made by hand by the men. These morrales are from the Maya town of Todos Santos Chuchumatanes, located high in the mountains of the western part of Guatemala's southern highlands. They are crocheted by hand of 100% cotton, in the same manner for many decades. This bag is 13 inches wide and 11 inches tall. The strap is also woven by hand on a very narrow loom, and is about 1 inch wide and approximately 40 inches long. The length can be adjusted by tying the strap to any length in the loop attached to the bag. Sometimes there is a zipper, but this bag has none.
