This is a traditional Chichicastenango tzute. It was handwoven on a backstrap loom in two panels, then joined with a decorative randa down the center. Three of the four edges are selvage-finished, the top edge is hemmed. Dimensions are 32 inches wide and 30 inches long. Background fabric is white cotton with thin stripes, some of which are multiple. The brocaded designs are mostly cotton floss, but there may also be some synthetic threads. The largest figures are 4 large horses; there are also many smaller figures of animals and geometrics.
Condition is very good, perhaps there are a few loose threads and some light soil, since this is a used tzute, but there are no holes or stains.
