Various utilitarian bags and tent hangings are made by village and nomadic tribal peoples in many parts of the world. The Turcoman peoples of Afghanistan and Central Asia make specialty hangings in this form to place over the doorway to their yurt. This form is called a jallar. This particular hanging is loosely woven pile weave. It is made of all wool and is in very nice lightly used condition. The colorful fringe hanging from the bottom edge has been trimmed.
